The latest Morning Consult survey shows a plurality of Democrats believe Bernie Sanders is the best candidate to take on Donald Trump in the general election.
34 percent of Democrats say Sanders has the best chance of defeating Trump in November, up five points since his victory in New Hampshire.
Furthermore, a majority of Democratic primary voters who say they knew about Sanders’ victory in Nevada, said they believe the Vermont Senator can beat Trump in November.
Overall, 32 percent of Democrats say Sanders is their first choice for the Democratic nomination, giving him a 13 point lead on Michael Bloomberg, who is in second place with 19 percent support.
The survey also found Sanders leading the field among black voters for the first time, with a five point advantage over Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg.
The survey of 954 Democratic primary voters was conducted Sunday, following Sanders’ victory in the Nevada caucuses.
