Bernie Sanders’ plan, released on Saturday, would provide free reproductive health services and guarantee reproductive justice.

“When I am in the White House, we will fight back against the Republican assault on abortion rights across this country and defend a woman’s fundamental right to control her own body,” Sanders said in a statement. “As President, there will be no doubt that in the United States of America, abortion is a constitutional right. Period.”

As President, Sanders will use executive authority to reverse actions President Trump has taken to limit women’s reproductive freedom, including a rule that allows providers to refuse care and discriminate against patients seeking reproductive health care.

The plan includes codification for Roe v Wade in legislative statute, protection and expansion of funding for Planned Parenthood, and the repeal of the Hyde and Helms Amendments.

Birth control would be available over the counter, made free under Sanders’ signature Medicare for All policy.

“Bernie will significantly expand funding for Planned Parenthood, Title X, and other initiatives that protect women’s health, access to contraception, and the availability of a safe and legal abortion,” the plan reads.

“As President, Bernie will work tirelessly to undo the damage Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have done. That means working with reproductive justice and advocacy groups to fill vacancies with highly qualified, principled judges who will protect reproductive rights at every level.”
