Just moments after polls closed, media outlets projected that Bernie Sanders will win the Democratic primary in his home state of Vermont.

While no results have yet been officially reported, the projection is based on exit polling data collected throughout the day. Outlets including CNN and NBC called the race for Sanders just after 7pm Eastern.

In the 2016 Democratic primary, Sanders won more than 85 percent of the vote to Hillary Clinton’s 14 percent.

Sanders has represented Vermont as an independent in the United States Senate since 2007. Prior to joining the Senate, he was the state’s at-large representative in the US House, since 1991.

Between 1981 and 1989, Sanders was the Mayor of Burlington, the most populous city in the state.

A Data for Progress poll conducted in the days prior to Super Tuesday showed Sanders with a 41 point lead in the state, winning 57 percent of support overall.

Sanders will win an overwhelming majority, if not all, of the state’s 16 delegates.
