Volunteers for Bernie Sanders have made nearly four million calls to voters in the days and hours leading up to polls closing on Super Tuesday.
National organizing director for the Sanders campaign Claire Sandeberg tweeted that volunteers made 2.2 million calls over the weekend, one million calls on Monday and 600,000 calls as of 3pm on Super Tuesday.
The campaign’s deputy distributed organizing director Jack Califano said the dialer that allows volunteers to call voters is a “secret weapon.”
“We’ll be calling until polls close, telling folks where to vote and reminding them it’s today,” Califano said.
In the run up to the Iowa caucuses, volunteers for Sanders smashed a target of 10 million phone calls. Leading up to Super Tuesday, the campaign reported that it had made 13 million calls so far, with a target of 15 million by March 17.
Sanders’ campaign is calling on supporters to join the effort. Volunteers can sign up online to make calls from home.
