In a sign of the increasing desperation by the Democratic establishment to undermine the Sanders campaign, failed 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton has again waded in.
She told a podcast Friday morning that Sanders, who did over 40 events for the former New York Senator and First Lady in 2016 after she clinched the nomination, that Sanders did not do enough to unite Democrats after his defeat in the primaries.
Clinton, who narrowly defeated Sanders in the 2016 Iowa caucuses, went on to describe the caucuses as undemocratic because the are held on a single night; this is in spite of efforts by the party in Iowa to make the caucuses more accessible, including introducing satellite caucus for Iowans who will be busy working at locations such as hospitals and nursing homes.
Whilst it remains to be seen what if any impact Clinton’s statements will have on the race, it is worth noting that Clinton is personally as unpopular as ever with the American public, with the most recent Gallup Poll on Favourability of People in the news showing Clinton with a net favourability of minus 24 percent, an even worse figure than what she took to the disastrous 2016 election. It is also worse than President Trump’s net favorability of minus 18 percent.
Sanders has neutral favorability on the same poll, on par with his main opponent for the nomination Joe Biden.
