A Public Policy Institute of California poll released this week shows Bernie Sanders in first place in California, affirming the Capitol Weekly poll released last Friday.
The new poll, conducted between January 3 and 12, found Bernie Sanders leading the field with 27 percent support.
Former vice president Joe Biden trails Sanders in second place, at 24 percent, with Senator Elizabeth Warren a close third at 23 percent.
Trailing far behind in fourth and fifth spots, the poll found former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg at 6 percent and Senator Amy Klobuchar at 4 percent.
Among voters aged between 18 and 44, Sanders received nearly 45 percent support, four times the support enjoyed by Joe Biden in the same group.
Californians will vote in the Democratic primary on March 3, known as Super Tuesday, which will determine the breakup of the state’s enormous total of 416 pledged delegates.
