Sanders has gained 7 percent since the last national poll conducted by CNN in December.

Respondents were more enthusiastic about a potential Sanders nomination than any other candidate in the race.

Sanders is leading against Trump in a hypothetical general election head to head. 52 percent said they would vote for Sanders, while 45 percent favored Trump.

The CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from January 16 throguh January 19.
