A SurveyUSA poll released Friday shows Bernie Sanders with a five point lead on Joe Biden in the Evergreen State.

Overall, 26 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in Washington said they would cast their vote for Bernie Sanders. 21 percent said they support Joe Biden, while Elizabeth Warren and Mike Bloomberg would garner 16 percent and 12 percent respectively.

Ron Sims, a former official in the Obama Administration and political analyst for KING 5 News said Sanders’ appeal was strong among voters of color.

“What really surprised me was the depth of the support, not only among liberals that are white supporting Bernie Sanders, but the Asian American community and the African American community,” Sims said.

The survey of 536 likely Democratic primary voters was conducted between January 26 and January 31.

The Washington Democratic primary will take place on Tuesday 10 March. Candidates will contend for 107 delegates in the open primary contest.
