In an email sent to supporters early Tuesday morning, US Senator Bernie Sanders confirmed he is seeking the Democratic nomination for president.

“I am writing to let you know I have decided to run for president of the United States,” the email began.

“I am asking you to join me today as part of an unprecedented and historic grassroots campaign that will begin with at least a million people from across the country.”

“Our campaign is not only about defeating Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in modern American history. It is not only about winning the Democratic nomination and the general election,” Sanders continued.

The email comes weeks after sources revealed Sanders’ announcement of a second tilt at the presidency was “imminent” and polls revealed he was the second most popular choice among Democrats, trailing Joe Biden.

“Brothers and sisters, if we stand together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. I hope you will join me,” Senator Sanders concluded.
