Hillary Clinton is now likely to debate Bernie Sanders in New York, after refusing to debate in her home state for months.
At a campaign stop in Wisconsin, Clinton changed her tone, saying she was open to a debate in Brooklyn. For months, her campaign had rejected proposals from Sanders to debate in the Empire State.
“Let’s do it,” Sanders said on CNN.
Previously, the Clinton campaign only wanted to debate in New York after the state had already voted in the primary process. Days ago, a Clinton operative had suggested that she would not debate him because he was being too negative.
Sanders’ campaign has been consistent in its push for a debate to be held in New York, either upstate or in New York City prior to the state’s primary.
