New York Mayor Bill de Blasio met with Bernie Sanders in Brooklyn last month, and says he was impressed with the presidential candidate.
Mayor de Blasio is yet to make an endorsement in the 2016 presidential race, but he has publicly praised Sanders for his economic positions. He also skipped Hillary Clinton’s presidential in New York City.
Asked about the encounter, de Blasio said that Sanders asked for the meeting, and he was happy to meet, saying that he was impressed with the Vermont senator.
Mayor de Blasio is planning to host a candidates’ forum in Iowa later this year. It will likely be held near Des Moines in early December.
