More than two million donations to Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign fuelled a $46.5 million fundraising haul in February.
The total is by far the largest raised by any 2020 candidate for president in a single month, and more than Sanders raised in February 2016 when he was running against Hillary Clinton.
Sanders’ campaign manager Faiz Shakir said more than 1.4 million donations received in February came from voters in states that vote on Super Tuesday.
“The senator’s multigenerational, multiracial working class coalition keeps fueling his campaign for transformational change a few bucks at a time,” Shakir said in a statement on Sunday morning.
Sanders’ campaign also announced Sunday that it will make television ad buys in nine states with primary contests on March 10 and 17. The campaign is currently airing ads in 12 of 14 Super Tuesday states.
Since launching his 2020 campaign for president, Sanders has raised more than $167 million from 8.7 million contributions. The average contribution was just $19. To date, nearly 2 million individuals have contributed to the campaign.
