A Change Research poll released Wednesday shows a surge in support for Bernie Sanders in South Carolina, taking him to first place, tied with Joe Biden.
Overall, Biden and Sanders each had 23 percent support in the poll. Sanders was up 3 percent since January, while Biden took a 2 percent hit. Tom Steyer was close to follow with 20 percent support.
Moderate former mayor Pete Buttigieg saw an increase in his support in the Palmetto state, now at 15 percent. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar polled in the single digits.
The survey of more than 1,000 likely South Carolina primary voters was conducted between February 12 and 14.
With less than two weeks until South Carolina’s primary on February 29, Sanders has a 40 percent chance of winning the most votes in the state, according to FiveThirtyEight’s Democratic primary forecast.
