Most Democrats agree that Sanders should play a part in shaping the party’s positions, while many think Clinton should make him his running mate.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll taken last week shows that a majority of Democrats believe Sanders has an important job to do in determining the future of the Democratic Party, perhaps as Clinton’s VP pick.
More than three quarters of Democrats say they believe Sanders should have a “major role” in writing the party platform, and nearly two thirds think he should run on a ticket with Secretary Clinton.
About 44 percent of respondents said they believe Sanders should make an independent bid for the White House, while some 47 percent were against the idea.
The poll also found that two thirds of Democrats believe Sanders should endorse Secretary Clinton.
