Sanders leads among liberal and moderate Democrats

Bernie Sanders is leading among Democrats describing themselves as liberal and moderate, according to a new Morning Consult poll released this week.

Overall, Sanders leads nationally among likely Democratic primary voters, with 32 percent of the vote. Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg follow with 19 percent and 18 percent support respectively.

Sanders’ lead is unsurprisingly strongest among voters who describe themselves as liberal, winning 38 percent support with the group. Joe Biden comes in a distant second with 17 percent support, followed by Elizabeth Warren on 15 percent.

Among moderate voters, Sanders holds a narrow one point lead, with 25 percent support. Michael Bloomberg and Joe Biden follow closely with 24 percent and 23 percent support respectively. Moderate former mayor Pete Buttigieg is a distant fourth on 10 percent.

Sanders is tied in second place with Biden with voters who describe themselves as conservative. Bloomberg leads with 25 percent support, while Sanders and Biden follow closely on 21 percent.

The survey of more than 13,000 Democratic primary voters was conducted between February 23 and 27.
