Sanders hits Trump on social security in new Iowa ad

With just days to go until the Iowa caucuses, the Sanders campaign has released a new TV spot in Iowa urging voters to caucus for Sanders as the candidate best placed to protect social security. The 30 second spot first went to air Thursday night on Davenport, IA NBC affiliate KWQC

The ad comes after President Trump, who has largely left social security alone this term, last week told CNBC cuts to social security would be on the table if he were to be re-elected in November. The ad contrasts this with Sanders strong career long stance in defending social security.

Notably, the ad does not however mention Sanders’ main primary opponent, Joe Biden, whose inconsistent record on the issue, including on a number of occasions calling for social security to be cut has become a major issue in the leadup to the caucuses.
