Rallies headlined by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and filmmaker Michael Moore have drawn more than 6000 supporters, with days to go until the Iowa caucuses.
A Sunday night rally in Sioux City drew a crowd of 1100, the Sanders campaign said in a statement.
“With just eight days to go, our volunteers are working harder than ever to reach as many Iowans as possible and expand the electorate,” said Sanders’ Iowa state director Misty Rebik.
“Our movement is fueled by working people who want to see real, fundamental change. Together, we’re going to win the Iowa caucus, send Bernie Sanders to the White House and make history.”
Also over the weekend, Sanders campaign volunteers knocked on more than 130,000 doors across the state. For over five hours on Saturday, Sanders volunteers were knocking two doors a second as canvasses were launched from more than 150 locations across the state.
Two polls released over the weekend show Sanders with a strong lead in Iowa. The caucuses will be held on Monday 3 February.
