Sanders calls for nationwide healthcare rallies

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont joined with Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer on Saturday to call for healthcare rallies across the country.

The two Senators wrote an open letter to their Senate colleagues, encouraging them to hold a rally in support of the Affordable Care Act in their home state on February 25.

“The overwhelming majority of Americans want to improve the ACA, not destroy it,” Schumer and Sanders wrote.

“This is not a Democratic issue, a Republican issue or an Independent issue. The overwhelming majority of Americans, regardless of political persuasion, understand that we have to go forward on health care, not backwards.”

Similar rallies also spearheaded by Schumer and Sanders were held in January, drawing tens and thousands of demonstrators.
