Sanders passes 2 million individual contributions

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders received his two-millionth individual campaign contribution on Wednesday night.

At around 8:10pm ET on Wednesday night, the campaign reported that it had received a total of more than 2 million individual contributions to the campaign.

The campaign had set the goal for 2 million contributions for midnight on Wednesday night.

“With just two weeks before the final FEC fundraising deadline of the year, we’ve set a goal that will shock the political elite and billionaire class of this country: reaching our two millionth individual contribution by tonight at midnight,” read a message on one of the campaign’s fundraising pages.

Bernie 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weaver said that no other presidential challenger has reached such a milestone at this point in the race.

“Every single contribution our campaign receives is a declaration of support for our shared values and sends a powerful message that we are capable of defeating the billionaire class in this election,” Weaver said in an email to supporters.
