Sanders holds strong lead for Time Person of the Year

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders holds a commanding lead in Time’s Person of the Year poll, well ahead of other candidates.

Sanders is currently polling at 10.5 per cent of poll respondents. His rival for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton, is polling at 1.3 per cent. GOP presidential candidate and billionaire Donald Trump receives 2 per cent of support in the poll.

No presidential candidate has ever been named as Person of the Year prior to winning the White House. Time’s editors will choose the Person of the Year, but they urge readers to participate in their poll anyway.

Other influencers currently trailing Sanders in the poll include Malala Yousafzai, Pope Francis and Barack Obama.

Time’s poll closes on December 6. You can cast your vote here.
