A straw poll of tens of thousands of Democrats.com subscribers shows Bernie Sanders well ahead of his opponents.
The poll shows that 48 per cent of respondents support Bernie Sanders for the Democratic nomination, while just 20 per cent say they support Hillary Clinton.
7 per cent said they supported Joe Biden, while another 23 per cent said they would support any of those three candidates.
As of the 3rd of October at 2:45pm ET, more than 50,000 Democrats.com subscribers had taken part in the online straw poll.
All other Democratic candidates polled at 1 per cent, except Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee who registered below 1 per cent of support.
