Speaking at a town hall in Boone on Saturday, Bernie Sanders pledged to fight harder than anyone to end racism in America, making it a focus of his speech to the small Iowan town.

The independent Senator from Vermont addressed police brutality and racism, saying America still has a long way to come.

Sanders named victims of police brutality, including Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Walter Scott, something he has done at several rallies and meetings this month.

The Senator called for the ending of the militarization of local police departments and criminal justice reform.

Also in his hour-long speech to the 400-strong crowd, Sanders touched on income and wealth inequality, saying the billionaires are unanimous in their hate for him.

“They are unanimous in their hate for me, and I welcome their hatred.”

Sanders is in Iowa for a three-day swing through the Hawkeye State.
