Bernie Sanders is heading to Iowa this weekend, for a three-day swing through the key state.
Sanders is kicking off his visit on Friday night at the Iowa Democratic Wing Ding, a nationally recognized fundraiser organised by local county Democratic parties. Also speaking at the Wing Ding are Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Lincoln Chafee and Martin O’Malley.
On Saturday morning, Sanders is holding a town meeting in Boone. At 2pm he is speaking at the Iowa State Fair soapbox. More than a dozen presidential candidates are also scheduled to speak.
At 7pm on Saturday, Sanders will be opening the campaign’s Iowa City field headquarters on S. Gilbert Street, Iowa City.
On Sunday morning, Sanders will be opening the campaign’s Cedar Rapids field headquarters on 11th Street, Marion. Later in the day, he is attending the Scott County Democrats’ Picnic in the Park, followed by a labor meeting in Clinton.
Concluding his swing through Iowa, Sanders will host a town meeting in Dubuque.
Sanders’ weekend swing comes after a CNN/ORC poll shows him gaining ground on Clinton in Iowa, trailing the former Secretary of State 50-31.
