Clinton super PAC launches assault on Sanders

Pro-Clinton super PAC Correct the Record will begin airing attack ads, calling for Senator Sanders to release his medical records.

The new assault on Senator Sanders comes as the polls tighten in Iowa, and he holds a commanding lead in the first primary state of New Hampshire.

The ad will reportedly call for Sanders to release his medical records before Iowans go to caucus on February 1st.

“With just two weeks to go before the Iowa caucuses, the super PAC coordinating with Hillary Clinton’s campaign is reportedly launching one of the most desperate and vile attacks imaginable: they are insinuating Bernie is too old and unhealthy to be our next president,” Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver said in an email to campaign supporters.

“Bernie is in excellent health. But this personal attack is another example of a sickness in our democracy when it is so easy for millionaires and billionaires to buy up candidates and elections.”

  1. Why is it an “attack ad” to call for a candidate to release medical information? Doesn’t everybody do that? Romney did.

    1. Because they are just trying to insinuate that he is too frail to be president. And honestly, the way Bernie campaigns I’m surprised that they’d even ask. The guy is so active. He doesn’t seem the least bit unhealthy.

      1. Bernie had now said he will release info before Iowa. The claim that this was “an assault” is very silly. Bernie is better than that–are his supporters?

      1. She released info last summer. Clinton, Romney, Ryan, McClain–everybody releases medical info. After Tsongas and Reagan, shouldn’t a 74 year old man??

I don’t see the issue here.

        1. We’ll see how the request is framed. The expectation of timing is questionable. I agree, everyone should release health records.

          1. Are you kidding me? A stroke? Are you getting your info from Fox News? Where is the source for that? Is that your interpretation of her concussion? Asking Bernie for health records is desperate but you’re claiming she had a stroke?

  2. lol. If this ad is worded in a nasty way like they are saying, I can’t help but wonder if it will be worth another $3million raised or maybe $5 million this time. Have they forgotten that Bernie just had hernia surgery a few weeks ago and was back on the Senate floor the next day ? I imagine a health evaluation will look pretty darn good.

  3. So now Bernie says he will release medical info before Iowa. Good for him. And the claim that asking for medical info is “one of the most desperate and vile attacks imaginable” looks sillier and sillier.

I’m less worried about Bernie being too old than about some in his campaign being too young and immature.
