Wall Street bankers might soon be in prison

The Justice Department admitted they have approached this issue the wrong way, and now say they have a plan to go after banking criminals.

Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates says the Department will hone in on individuals in a bid to deter banking crimes in the future.

Yates also while it is impossible to put a company in prison, looking at the actions of individuals will assist in bringing more accountability into banking.

Going forward, the plan is to have companies turn over the names of suspected banking criminals so prosecutions are able to take place, should there be sufficient evidence.

In his speeches, Bernie Sanders has made a point of mentioning that while thousands of Americans are in prison for using small amounts of drugs, not one banker on Wall Street is in prison for their actions surrounding the Global Financial Crisis.

  1. You can’t put a company in prison but you can revoke its corporate charter, essentially giving it the corporate equivalent of the death penalty.
